Poetry pamphlet – ‘Doors: Writing for Refugees’

Refugee Week is from June 15th. The international theme this year is ‘Imagine.’ In response, BRWR (Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugees) is launching a poetry pamphlet, ‘DOORS: Writing for Refugees’ on World Refugee Day June 20th.

It is a selection of poems which local people and others have written about the refugee situation, and has been compiled as a fund raiser for BRWR.

Contributors are local Worcestershire poets, inspired and moved by the refugee experiences, with contributions from two Syrian poets who find themselves as refugees here. A door can be to the past, the present or the future. We can imagine the past or imagine the future we would like. One of our local refugees has designed the front cover of the poetry pamphlet. He is making us a launch video, which will also promote his MazBroadcast business. People may know Maz from all the voluntary work he has done for Bromsgrove Community in collecting and delivering prescriptions for housebound people during Lockdown.

WORDS, the local literary group, have given us a donation towards the printing costs of ‘DOORS: Writing for Refugees.’ It is for sale at £5 a copy for BRWR funds which support our local refugees. All BRWR workers are unpaid volunteers To order copies email : info@brwr.uk
