Coffee Morning for Afghan Refugees

Redditch Afghan Refugee Support will be holding a coffee morning and cake sale to raise funds for Afghan refugees who will shortly be settled in the Worcestershire area.
The event will run from 10am til 12 noon on Saturday 27 November, at the Ecumenical Centre in Redditch town centre. There will be hot and cold drinks, cakes and a fantastic tombola so why not come along and enjoy a sociable fundraiser?

Nicki Farnes, Ecumenical Centre manager, says
“My husband served in the British Army in Afghanistan, and as a result we have many good friends who have had to leave the dangers of a country ruled by the Taliban to make a new home in the UK. Worcestershire promised to welcome over 200 Afghan refugees over the next few years – which is great news.”

The government funding programme covers the basic needs of the Afghan families so money raised at this event will be ringfenced by Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcomes Refugees and used to purchase items or services which are not covered by the government. This might include driving lessons, bicycles or equipment needed to prepare for new jobs or school.
