Theresa May: Do not abandon the Dubs Scheme for refugee children

Many of you will have noted the Government’s announcement last week to end the ‘Dubs amendment’ scheme bringing unaccompanied refugee children to safety in the UK.  200 children have been brought in under the scheme from mainland Europe but it will close after another 150 are settled in the UK.  The Dubs amendment, designed by the Labour peer and former child refugee Lord Dubs, was incorporated into the Immigration Act last year.   While there was no target number specified in law, Lord Dubs and his supporters had suggested the UK could help 3,000 of the most vulnerable refugee children.   Church leaders, MPs and peers have condemned the decision to cap the number at 350.

Should you wish to call on Theresa May to not abandon the Dubs Scheme for refugee children, please consider signing a petition and writing to your MP.
